If you are unable to change the words “send check to” to “send cheque to”, and none of the threads below help then you need to edit the words in /app/code/core/Mage/Payment/etc/system.xml.

The word “check” appears around lines 173,234, and 241. Change it to “Cheque” and the problem is solved.
